IMIGO by Jacob Boehme has travelled from development at Yellamundie Festival 2025 towards its world premiere in 2027. Before it reaches the stage, the whole creative team and performers need time together for one final development.
Joining the growing collection of Moogahlin produced Yellamundie Festival works including The Weekend by Henrietta Baird, The Visitors by Jane Harrison, The Last Shot by Troy J Russell, and Maayuma-li Mubirr by Warren Mason.
We want to share more First People's performing arts work with all audiences and Step Up to the Stage Creative Develop Fund is our new initiative to actively support new work's final developments.
IMIGO by Jacob Boehme is a theatre concert telling the life story of Michelle Tobin, a Yorta Yorta mother, grandmother, advocate and convenor of the Positive Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Network. Through story and music, IMIGO explores Michelle’s experience of living as an HIV+ Aboriginal woman in Australia, and her journey through love, family, survival, forgiveness and healing — held together by IMIGO, meaning hope in Yorta Yorta.
The work was written and directed by Jacob Boehme, with Shari Sebbens as director during the Yellamundie Festival 2025 development, and featured Ursula Yovich as actor/composer, with Adam Ventoura as composer and Tawhi Thomas as dramaturg.
