About this cause

The Bower’s Re-use for Good campaign is about creating lasting change — for people, for community, and for the planet.

Every year, The Bower works with the Sydney community to rescue tonnes of quality furniture, repairable or working whitegoods and household items from landfill, extend the life of valuable resources through repair and reuse, and make sustainable living more accessible and affordable.

But reuse can do more than reduce waste. Through programs like From House to Home, community repair workshops, volunteering, skills-sharing and education, The Bower helps people build connection, confidence, opportunity and belonging.

A repaired chair, a donated table, or a shared skill can help furnish a safe home, strengthen community ties, and create pathways for participation and support.

Re-use for Good speaks to this dual mission: doing good through social and environmental impact, while also embedding reuse, repair and circular economy practices permanently — for good — into the fabric of our communities.

By investing in practical systems of reuse and repair, we can reduce waste, support people doing it tough, and help build a more sustainable, connected and caring Sydney for generations to come.

Through our programs, we also help people build skills, confidence, connection, and opportunity. Whether it’s learning how to repair a treasured item, furnishing a home with affordable essentials, volunteering in the community, or gaining practical experience and support, The Bower exists to create positive social and environmental impact together with our community.

Please make a donation today to help us raise $40,000 by 30th June to re-use for good!

Your donation will:

* keep reusable goods out of landfill
* expand repair and reuse programs and services across Sydney
* support families transition From House to Home, providing essential household goods and furniture to people in need
* create opportunities for skills-sharing, education, volunteering, and community participation
* strengthen a community where sustainability and social inclusion go hand in hand!

At a time when both environmental challenges and cost-of-living pressures are growing - we need smart solutions that tackle both these predicaments. Reuse is one of the most practical and hopeful solutions we have. Every repaired chair, reused appliance, shared skill, and supported community member helps build a future that is fairer, more connected, and more sustainable.

With your help, we can re-use for good — for people, for community, and for the planet.

Thank you for supporting The Bower and helping us create a Sydney where nothing — and no one — is discarded.
